Winter
Ninth Pass
Winter, Turn 2511
Months 1-3

A drought has lasted for more than a Turn in the Fortian region. Although cold, the weather remains dry, with very little snowfall. The water-level in the lake is low, and the lower caverns are now rationing non-essential water (for bathing, laundry, et cetera).

    Summer - Turn 2509
    « on: July 09, 2012, 04:05:40 PM »
The siege at Fort hold held from the first month until the fifth, when Mikhen was finally dispatched.  Having believed he was about to bring his half-brother Haighe to the Holders' Conclave, where Haighe would abdicate and the Conclave would officially name Mikhen as Lord of Fort, the usurper was understandably surprised to find the dragons of Fort Weyr descending upon him and his men.  Several were captured, some killed, and the Hold was finally liberated.  Those who had been refugees at Harper Hall were able to return home, and it's now a long summer of putting the Hold to rights, mourning the dead, and preparing to see it officially turned over to Haighe's Lordship.  In the meantime, people begin to wonder when Harper Hall will officially name Robinton's successor...

Life at the Weyr was significantly less dangerous.  The Hatching came and went successfully, with the new weyrlings safely settled into the barracks with their lifemates - including two of those with Fort Hold's Blood, so that's an interesting side-story.  The weyrlings of Solth's and Branth's Hatching will be of age to join a Wing near the end of the summer, having made it through their training with relatively few mishaps, some lost in between training and some blooded in their first Fall.

It's going to be a hot, dry summer, unfortunately.  Little rainfall will definitely cause some worry as the summer wears on, with a few farmers feeling the first inkling of a drought by the time summer wanes and the harvest months begin.  Temperatures will be unusually high all summer, and people will be stuck doing what they can to beat the heat - escaping to cooler climes for riders, hiding in the cool interiors of the caverns for residents, lots and lots of time in the lake for those who have no other way around it.
