...PERSONALITY...Yvette comes off as one of those people who just likes to talk and who always knows what is going on around her, mainly because she is a gossip. Nor does she hesitate to spread what she hears. Unless it happens to be about one of the few people she actually cares about. The woman has issues with trusting despite the fact that she seems to have no trouble in making friends who can handle her sense of humor and her sharp tongue. She doesn’t mince her words, always saying whatever is on her mind at the time. This trait has gotten her where she is and also into a lot of trouble. It’s not that she means well in her commentary, not at all, it’s just that her sense of humor is meant to protect her from any who may try to take advantage of her. She is not completely immune to making friends and having herself hurt, as time can wear her down and friends are still likely to betray.
It’s odd, but, the woman still has some hope to where she won’t completely dismiss anyone who tries to be her friend. She still has hope that there will be people who won’t completely betray her and cast her aside. However, this part of her is deeply hidden within the sarcastic, stubborn nature of the woman.
She hates having people do things for her, especially if they insist. She is stubborn and believes that she can do anything she sets her mind to, even if she’s small and couldn’t possibly lift something that was twice her size. That’s not to say that she wouldn’t try every and any way possible until she could determine that it is absolutely not possible to do. Her stubborn personality and her willingness to put in the hard work of becoming a Journeyman has led her to get her promotion.
While it can be said that she’s hardworking, little can be said about her willingness to work hard in any area that isn’t her Craft. Outside of her work, she really is quite the easy going person, unwilling to let things truly bother her and taking everything as a bit of a joke. It’s only when she sets her mind to doing something that she puts her full effort into it when it is unrelated to weaving.
2488 - Yvette was born to a small cotholding family within the Fort Weyr territory. She is the fourth born child and the second daughter. She grew up rather docile and sweet. It was expected that she would marry one of her father’s friends’ sons.
2493 - Yvette began learning to sew at a rather young age, setting in motion her desire to become a Weaver despite the plans for her marriage.
2495 - Yvette managed to sew a dress all on her own for one of her favorite dolls (also handmade). One of her closest friends stole it and eventually set fire to the doll while she could do nothing to stop them, starting an age of distrust for the young girl.
2499 - Despite the fact that Yvette was learning the womanly duties, she tended to be more outspoken than her older sister, louder, and unafraid to speak her mind. Especially when she felt wronged. Punishments grew worse as she grew older, and her mouth grew worse to the point where she instigated a fight between herself and the boy she was supposed to marry at some point. She ended up beating him, far more than a girl should have beaten a boy. Not that she didn’t walk out with a few scrapes herself.
2500 - At the age of twelve, Yvette was sent to the Weaver Hall as part of her punishment for beating up the poor boy she got in a scuffle with. The first was not the last, and it go to the point where all the local boys would come torment the girl. For their own piece of mind and not having to worry about refining their daughter into a marriageable woman, they sent her off without question. Hurt and betrayed, Yvette closed herself off to friendships and essentially cut all family ties by refusing to respond to any letters that were sent to her. Her sharp tongue amplified due to the distrust of everyone around her, gaining her no friends and essentially casting her as a loner.
2503 - At fifteen, Yvette had began to calm down and eventually returned some of the letters sent to her by her family. And, she gradually made friends with those who dismissed her after her harsh treatment of them. Though, none trusted her and many made a game out of trying to pry the secrets from her to tease her with them. Tormented again by betrayal, Yvette kept the rest of her secrets to herself and promptly started laughing everything off. With no more fun to be gained from the game, many left her alone and only those who had pure intentions were left to try and make their way into the young woman’s heart.
2504 - At sixteen, Yvette became determined to walk the tables as soon as possible, throwing herself head first into her work. While there were distractions, nothing would sway her from her decision.
2509 - Age twenty-one, Yvette walked the tables as a Journeyman and was posted at Fort Weyr.
