Winter
Ninth Pass
Winter, Turn 2511
Months 1-3

A drought has lasted for more than a Turn in the Fortian region. Although cold, the weather remains dry, with very little snowfall. The water-level in the lake is low, and the lower caverns are now rationing non-essential water (for bathing, laundry, et cetera).

Maybe there'd be some of that nasty juice-stuff and they'd all get happy and giggly. Giggly two-leggers were the best.

Day 2, Month 1, Turn 2, Ninth Pass

    Thread Roulette
Amaryn (to start) and A'dair and "the changing of the guard."  There's always a dragon on the Star Stones, and it's the end of Amaryn's shift one chilly winter evening and the beginning of A'dair's, so they're bound to cross paths as they take turns being watchriders for Fort Weyr.

It was cold and Amaryn was feeling it. Winter at Fort was nothing at all like Winter at Ista. There had been storms already and even snow though right now there wasn't any falling. She was wrapped up warm, thick fur layers, clothes that she'd done her best to have tailored but really there was only so much you could do and she wasn't willing to compromise being warm.

Thankfully Eferiath was a good block for the chill of the winter wind, it wasn't snowing, and Amaryn was sitting comfortably against the green's flank. Eferiath had provided an ongoing commentary for the past few hours about the comings and goings of the weyr, always one to be supremely interested in such things and therefore imminently suitable for the job of watchdragon. And to it gave them some one on one time, which was always welcome.

Another green popped into the air above the bowl and greeted Eferiath, who gave an exuberant welcome and then informed Amaryn that they had messages from Telgar. Ho hum. Amaryn stood up and waved them down and then watched as they landed and the rider dismounted and headed inside. Ho hum.  Her replacement should be here soon.

ooc: sorry its a lame start heehee. I did it for a few days before the siege so we don't have to worry about that. Also I switched to winter so that we're more current. <3

Carmine blinked into the cold evening air, right in front of poor Eferiath's nose. She gave a shriek of surprise and blinked out again. After a moment, the tini gold flit reappeared a short distance away, chattering irritably to herself before she glided over to hover a short distance away. She chirped a greeting to Eferiath before diving in to chatter at Amaryn, again all but in her face as she did. Manners were still something that the little queenling was being schooled in, obviously.

Ryath swooped up from his ledge, with a heavy bundle of furs and jackets in place of his rider. For such a large and heavy blue, he sure was quick, sweeping in to land beside Eferiath with a hop, skip and a quick backwing to keep him from sliding off the other side of his landing zone. Ryath rumbled in amusement, shifting to block the worst of the winter wind as his rider dismounted

    - Apologies for being a few minutes late. Someone couldn't find his winter jackets -

A'dair was about as wrapped up in jackets as he could get, making his already bulky and short frame look all the more bulky and short. But Frell if he cared how he looked! He was frozen to the bone! He'd even sacrificed one of his wineskins to bring hot klah up with him, tucking it into one of the layers of jackets to help keep him warm for the moment. "Forgot how much I hated winter...." He'd spent, basically, the last turn in spring and summer. Having left the eighth interval in late summer and arrived in early spring, he'd all but forgotten just how cold fort could be in the winter months.

Carmine landed gracefully on A'dair's shoulder, curling her tail about his scarfed neck and nuzzling his exposed and rosey cheek sweetly. He reached up and stroked her with a gloved hand before tucking it back into his pocket. "At least the mind numbing cold makes Fall redundant. Upside, right?" he chuckled, much preferring the dangers of fall to the melancholy and icy grip of the weather

Eferiath simply blinked and then twisted to keep a close and curious watch on the firelizard, but Amaryn's reaction was more of a silent scream, sound frozen in her throat before she made it, and not because she was afraid so much as the fact that she wasn't exactly used to firelizards just appearing right in front of her face like that. The young woman was glad that her dragon blocked her reaction from view, at least long enough for Amaryn to get hold of herself once more, shoot an accusing look at the gold flit and then pointedly ignoring her. Okay, she was fuming just slightly because she wasn't a fan of feeling stupid and she did feel just a little bit like a wherrybrain for startling as she had.

Eferiath offered a comforting little chirp for Amaryn and then a more curious one at Carmine while Amaryn stood up and brushed herself off, just in time for Ryath and A'dair's landing.

Its okay, we like watching, Eferiath responded, mindvoice immediately coy, and rich with the feel of verdant life and fresh growth such as was rare in these parts. The delicate green artfully stretched out to better show herself.

It seemed she'd forgotten the flit entirely.

"I've never known a Fort winter." Amaryn responded, watching Carmine drape herself around A'dair's shoulders. Now it wasn't as if she particularly knew the man, nor the firelizard, but she paid attention, and he was the only one at Fort who happened to have a gold firelizard. That merited notice.

"I'd rather fly fall." She added and then casually sauntered over, eyes on the klah. "But for right now.... I don't suppose you're willing to warm a body up?" Her tone was lightly flirtatious as usual, but she did mean the klah.

Ah, leave it to the greens to make even a midnight spell as watchdragon sound like a sexy endeavor. Ryath rumbled his amusement and settled himself to block the wind for his rider, looking a bit like a wild feline as he all but lounged. The cold had never bothered him, unlike his rider who had struggled with the cold since he was a child. Winter just meant less bathes and more oiling to keep his hide from chapping, beyond that it was just a change of scenery to him.

    - Than your welcome to stay as long as you please. Yours might actually get Mine to forget about the cold for a time... Winter makes him miserable -

The fact that this was their first winter without their weyrmates and little Kayla in eight turns.... Well that honestly had a lot to do with his riders extra sour mood. But that wasn't something he wished to think on at the moment. Though he would need to speak to A'dair soon about Flights. People were starting to notice that they were conspicuously absent for every Flight thus far in this time, and they would need to put in an effort to at least act interested or someone might think something was wrong with them... Sexually. And neither one of them was willing to have that sort of rumor flying around the weyr.

A'dair smirked as Amaryn admitted to having never known a fort winter "Ah, yes, I forgot. Your from Ista, right?" He was, however, completely oblivious as to her relationship to the Weyrwoman. too many new faces to keep straight as is without who's whom's whatever. "Well, this is as bad as I'v ever seen it, what with the Red Star just starting its run at us.... I imagine it was as bad or worse the last few years, but it aught to start getting better soon" He hoped. Or else he was going to have to put in for a seasonal transfer. Boll maybe.

Chuckling, he nodded agreement "So would I, my dear, so would I" He pulled the klah from his jacket, offering her the skin with a cheeky grin "I do hope your meaning this.... Because I don't know that I'd be good for much else at the moment" He teased, earning a questioning chirp from Carmine. The little gold did not understand the image that had just popped into A'dair's head. Why on pern would two people wrestle in bed?

She is good at making men forget, Eferiath agreed, sounding delighted at what she took as an invitation, and a rightful one, which she and hers clearly deserved. They WERE desirable companions after all!

Amaryn of course had no knowledge of A'dair and Ryath's losses, and to be truthful hearing about it would fall flat on her, since she wasn't one to dwell or to show any particular empathy. And Eferiath was rather self-involved in general. The lithe, dainty green much preferred to focus on the here and the now, and things that felt good than silly human emotions and concerns. Really it was a lesson that Amaryn thought was worth learning overall.

"Ista, yes. It sure doesn't get like this." Amaryn wondered briefly how her mother was taking it. She HAD noted that the Weyrwoman's weyr was far and away warmer. Well-heated, and sheltered and generally comfortable, as was fitting for the position.  "Perhaps I should have waited until summer to transfer." She smiled as she said this. Really that hadn't been an option. If she hadn't come to Fort she'd have been shunted off somewhere else. Weyr politics and womanly emotions being what they were.

"The klah would make a good start." Amaryn answered with a small laugh, certainly she appreciated the innuendo being returned. The greenrider sauntered over to join him. "And besides, I'm not sure that this," She gestured out over the expansive view, snow coated and desolate as it was, "Is the best choice for..." She gave him a rather self-assured once over, "that 'much else' you speak of."

    - So I hear. Even managed to garner the attention of a few Bronzeriders since you've been here hasn't she? Leaves a lowly blue to wonder whats happening to the world when the Bronzes get the best of the Green's as well as our lovely Gold's -

Ryath rumbled his amusement, swiveling his scarred head around to take in the late night scenery. He was on duty after all, and it wouldn't do to let something slip past him just because he had a pretty young green to occupy his attention. But as soon as this was done, he turned his attention back to Eferiath. She was very deserving of as much attention as he could give her.

A'dair chuckled, leaning casually back against Ryath's midnight blue hide. He found the dragons hide to be far more comfortable than any chair he'd rested his massive bulk in, and on a cold night like this, the added body heat was more than welcome. "I imagine that it must be a much milder winter there. Maybe even pleasant in some aspects" Like the ability to not walk around draped in furs and every single piece of clothing a body owned, for instance. "I would have suggested it, but its a bit late for that now... Guess you'll just have to suffer the freezing cold with the rest of us" He'd heard from a few sources that keeping ones bed full helped to ease the icy chill of the long winter nights. Not that he'd particularly wanted to know that from his little sister... But it wasn't as if anyone with eyes couldn't tell that the girl was head over heels for the boy she'd been seeing this past little while.

A'dair gave a deep chuckle, more than amused with this little spitfire. He'd heard a few good rumors about the girl, and more than a few good stories about her, but he hadn't expected someone who picked up as much attention as she did to be so... well, enjoyable. For him, that is. He'd never been one to take part in the sexual promiscuity of the weyr. No more than a man who wasn't weyr bred, at least. And since the jump forward, and the loss of almost everything he loved in life, he'd been less than interested in sharing his bed with another. Thankfully that had been slowly wearing off over the last 10 months. "Well if it wasn't so blasted cold it wouldn't be so bad... My sister keeps telling me that Pern looks beautiful this time of year. I keep telling her that she might be a little bit insane, but I think that's already a well known fact"

Oh she always has, Eferiath answered, and truth be told Eferiath's own preferences tended to influence that too. only as lowly as you consider yourself to be She added a bit pertly, accompanying those words with the impression that she much preferred a dragon willing to talk himself up, though she did so like to be flattered.  Eferiath was a green who thought much of herself., and today it appeared she was willing to deign to pay Ryath a bit of attention, though she was rather disapproving of his imperfect hide.  The green shifted to better show off her own delicate self, hide unravaged by either elements or Thread, and coyly flicked her tail at the larger dragon.

Amaryn spoke to A'dair, still that purr in her voice, as if they were sharing a joke."Mmmm yes, sometimes there's enough sun that you wouldn't much know its winter at all." Aside from a slighter chill to the water, and a sometimes breeze and a noticeable drop in humidity. Still, an Istan winter would  be positively balmy to a Fortian rider.

That's why we're here you know. Silly Bronzeriders. Eferiath informed Ryath and preened somewhat. Bronzes did so like to chase her! And Eferiath was a green that liked to be caught by whichever male impressed her most in the moment.

Oblivious to draconic gossip, and far more focused on the bluerider, Amaryn pursed her lips, playing up the natural pout she usually sported. "Oh I'm sure I'll find a way to... warm up and keep warm." The Klah would be a good start for that, though really Amaryn could head inside if she so chose. After all, her watch was now over. But it was the most entertainment she'd found in a few days and certainly Eferiath seemed happy enough to stay a while longer.

"Oh yes, your sister. Shilo." Mmmmm Amaryn had joined the same wing, she knew who she was, and had eyed up that man that the other greenrider was clearly carrying on with. Not bad. Lucky for the blonde, Amaryn much preferred dragonriders and had little to no interest to any man who didn't have a dragon.

"So tell me, A'dair, have you got any advice for a rider new to Fort?" It had been a few months now, and she was pretty settled but for certain Fort was not Ista, even with her mother about. Mmmm. That was a connection that seemingly had not yet been made. Amaryn added a sunny smile and a further question, "And new Weyrleaders too! Any thoughts on the pair of them?" Now that was a bronzerider who hadn't shown even an ounce of attention to her. For the best she supposed, but she couldn't help but be a little put out.

Like his rider, Ryath was a simple dragon. Not simple in the mental capacity sort of way, but more in personality. He'd never cared much for Weyr politics or petty grievances between factions within the Weyr. He didn't understand Togath's decision to withdraw from his position in protest of the new Weyrleader. It all seemed petty and childish to him, pointless and more than a little damaging to the wing and Weyr. He would rather keep his battered nose out of that stuff, and so long as everyone could still do their duty he would keep quiet. But the minute someones lamenting effected the wing and Weyr, he put in his two pence. He'd had words with Togath about the pairs choices, diplomatically informing the bronze that the wing should have meant more to  him than a petty grievance with the outcome of the Flight. He was sure it hadn't earned him any favors from the pair, but he was quite certain he'd gotten through to the bronze. Not that he'd changed anything, mind you. His wing was still leader and second less, and all but floundering with the uncertainty that lay before it. They had done their best to reassure those of the wing who had voiced their concern, but it only helped so much.

He rumbled in amusement as she spoke, still as coy as could be. - I'll have to keep that in mine in the future.... I'm rather surprised the Bronze's are able to keep up with you're personality. We have a few fine specimens, but most aren't the brightest of beasts. I can see Nevarath or maybe Taerath keeping pace... But the others don't seem much like they would hold your attention well - She was the sassiest green he'd ever had the pleasure of keeping company with. So very much the opposite of his late mate, who had been modest and kind to the point of innocence. But he was rather surprised that she leaned towards the bronzes, who didn't much see like they would keep her amused. He could understand the attraction she had to them physically, and maybe that was all she needed. He'd admired a few golds in the past, but even if he stood a chance of catching one, they wouldn't hold his interest for long with those bossy, moody personalities.

Had he been made aware of her distaste for his battered hide, he would'd have minded one little bit. He wasn't a moron, he knew he was a sight to see and that not everyone thought it a pleasant sight. But there was nothing to be done about it. Save for the six inch tear to the trailing edge of his finger sail -a wound he'd sustained when he'd tripped over his own oversized wings at hatching  and put a talon through his own wing- he'd taken every single wound in the defense of the Weyr. And though it made him look twenty turns older than he was, with a face only a rider could possibly love... It was who he was.

He snaked his head out to capture her flicking tail, getting flicked in his eye before he was able to lightly capture the offending tip between his jaws. His grip was light and careful, with just enough pressure to hold her tail steady. His green gaze swirled with a slight drizzle of blue in the middle, knowing she could easily pull free if she so wished without even a scratch to her pretty little tail.

A'dair all but groaned at the idea of a winter so mild that you could hardly call it winter. You traded harsh winters for smoldering summers, but at the moment he couldn't see much of an issue with that idea. But his daydream was cut short by her teasing comment about keeping herself warm and he couldn't help but laugh at the idea "I can't imagine you'll have much trouble with that. I'v seen how much attention you manage to find yourself, and i'm honestly quite impressed. I didn't expect to see someone overtake my sister's record quite so quickly" Not that she'd been putting any effort into keeping her title lately. But A'dair was rather pleased to see his sister so well cared for.

"That would be her. She's a bit hard to miss." Their line, on their fathers side, was Weyrbred for generations. A'dair knew that it tended to show by the behavior of his siblings. Frell, he'd even been a bit of a manwhore before he'd found his weyrmate. Carmine yawned and rubbed her head against his cheek, responding to the dull ache that the memory of Myka still caused her human. He absently reached up to scratch her chin as he thought a moment on Amaryn's question "Normaly I'd sugest keeping your nose clean and your head down while everyone gets used to you. But you'v already blown that out of the water" He chuckled, clearly teasing her a bit. There was nothing wrong with what she was doing, this was a weyr after all. But it did tend to draw attention when you came in and immediately started dancing your way through all the best beds in the Weyr. "Your guess is as good as mine right now, with all the changes going on. I'v spent no more time around the Werywoman that most of us have. She seems quiet but steady to me... V'turo I know only slightly better, but I'v at least had a full conversation with the man. He's a solid leader in Fall, and I have a feeling he'll do fine one he gets his feet under him.... Only time will tell if they are a good pair or not, though"

Ista's bronzes tried, the little green practically purred, sounding quite proud of herself. The Weyrwoman didn't like it very much But was that Eferiath's fault? No! Not her fault at all that the verdant green of her delicate hide appealed to more than a few of Ista's bronzes! Not her fault at all! She was entirely dismissive of the named bronzes in that moment. Ryath though, was holding her attention for the moment. Eferiath let out a trill at the capture of her precious tail, but didn't pull away, the whirling of her own eyes matched her hide.

Amaryn shrugged one shoulder and looked down at A'dair, quite enjoying the height advantage. Eferiath's little trill had her turn slightly to glance at her green, though Amaryn didn't comment on... whatever it was the dragons were doing. She returned her attention to A'dair and spoke. "I'm more particular than your sister." A man had to have some sort of clout to keep her attention for any length of time. That was a big part of the reason there had been trouble at Ista. At least here at Fort she could be sure that her mother wouldn't send her away, whether or not people made the connection between herself and the Weyrwoman, that would stay true.

Right now the only clout A'dair here had was the possession of a gold firelizard. Not something to sneer at, even if Carmine could be better behaved.

Keep her nose clean? "And how would anyone get used to me if I'm not being myself, hmmm?" Amaryn asked, raising one perfectly shaped eyebrow at the man. Could he answer that? She smiled at him though, not bothered at all. She'd sure go on being nothing other than herself. Amaryn wasn't at all the type of woman to edit herself for others, even when that had consequences.

Quiet but steady. Well that was as kind of a comment about her mother as any and Amaryn's smile widened, though she didn't give any explanation for the sudden warmth she directed A'dair's way. "I do hope it works out for the best. Weyrlife is such a drag when the leadership is troublesome."  She opened the skin and took a sip of the Klah, then offered it back to A'dair with a wink.

Ryath rumbled in amusement at the implication in her words. As if she had single handedly worn down and discarded each and every bronze that her home Weyr had to offer, finding them all lacking and unworthy in the end. He didn't know any from that weyr, in this time of the previous, but he somehow doubted she'd find what she was looking for here either. Though from what he'd heard of the current class of weyrlings, one of those massive browns might suit her just perfectly when they were grown.

    - Somehow I get the feeling that they failed... Well maybe you'll find someone here at Fort who will surprise you -

He released her tail after a long moment, his eyes whirling a blue with swirls of green mixed in at the sound of her trill. He glanced at the little gold on A'dairs shoulders, feeling her attention and knowing she was taking in their flirtatious play with wonder. She seemed to take her behavior cues from him at this point, with no 'mother' to show her how to behave. It would do her good to see how she should behave with the opposite sex. Being a queenling, she aught to be flirty without being an easy catch. But that wasn't something he needed to worry about telling her for almost another turn, thankfully.

Turning his gaze back to Eferiath, he snaked his head out to blow a few snowflakes from her hide, watching as they danced away on the winter breeze. Unlike his rider, he rather enjoyed winters. Liked watching the snow rain down and blanket the world, watching the world turn from dead and brown to white and clean. The mud that came after the snow melted wasn't so bad either!

    - Did you try and steal her bronze? -

He teased lightly, figuring she likely had made a run at the senior queens favored bronze. But what did it matter if the pair were loyal? He had never once worried over the bronzes who flirted with his mate, nor had A'dair ever worried that the mother of his child would stray. And if they had... Well it was a weyr and Flights weren't always guarantied.

Leaning back casually against Ryath's shoulder, he was the picture of relaxed confidence. Even with the biting cold, he was actually enjoying himself. With the big blue to block the wind and share a bit of body heat with him, and the lovely brunette distract him from his half frozen limbs and keep his blood pumping with their playful banter... Well he could almost call it pleasurable, almost. He was still just a tad too cold for that particular description though. He chuckled and shrugged "I'v heard she's pretty easy to get into bed, but its near impossible to keep her attention at times." Little did he know of her preferences, or he would have felt honored to have held her attention this long. He was a simple man and wasn't prone to ego or the like. Give him a good strong ale, a pretty girl to distract him and maybe a good game of dragon poker and he was a happy man. Shards, just give him the drink and he'd be content for a few candlemarks! He was only just starting to delve back into the dangerous waters of the female species, and he still hadn't gotten fully back into the swing of the game yet. Not that he was every very good at the game to begin with, but eight turns out of it hadn't helped his skills any. Chuckling, he cocked a brow at her rhetorical question, knowing she knew damn well what he'd meant "You'r a lot for them to take in all at once. Usually you try not to just dump a bucket of cold water on the Weyr.... But it likely did them some good, they were getting a bit... stale" Things sure had been a bit more lively than before she'd arrived.

Cocking his head at the sudden beaming smile she gave him, he smirked in return and shrugged slightly as he took the skin and took a sip of his own. Good, black klah. Even once it got cold it aught to be enough to keep him at full attention for his shift as Watchdragon. "It can. I'm hopeful that won't be the case with these two. The age difference alone should keep them on their toes. Its just enough to allow them to think differently without being so great as to make them butt heads at every turn" Corking the skin, he tucked it back into his jacket to preserve the warmth as long as possible.

The delicate green crooned softly, mindvoice giving the sensation of a shrug when she mentally brushed against Ryath in response to his amusement and comment.

A nice surprise I hope! She deserved nice surprises after all! Eferiath deserved all nice things, Amaryn told her so constantly and her Amaryn was always right about everything always!

Her tail freed, Eferiath used it to swat at Ryath playfully.

Oh no, her bronze is much too old.. But those belonging to the Junior Golds? Hmmmmmmmmm well! It wasn't a dragon problem. Eferiath explained in earnest. It really wasn't! But it wasn't her Amaryn's fault either! Their riders took a fancy to my beloved. But who wouldn't? Who wouldn't? Eferiath thought that it made perfect sense that they would! Certainly she did not have the capacity to actually contrive to attract the attention of a bronze who happened to be the mate of a gold. But if things just so happened to turn out that way, well Eferiath rather thought she deserved it! And same with Amaryn!

Amaryn though, did tend to contrive such things. She had ambition after all. Too much for a greenrider perhaps? "Hmmm." She eyed A'dair speculatively, her cheeks were flushed from the cold. Stale, was it? "And you, A'dair? Am I... a lot to take in?" And perhaps more importantly, and more crudely, was he?

She shrugged one shoulder after a long, thoughtful look. "I do hope it all works out for the best." And if her mother had a good looking bronzer to play with? Well, more power to her, though Amaryn rather suspected Sorilea might let that go to waste. How sad.

    - I suspect it will be the best sort of surprise -

He was of the mind that every female was deserving of nice thing, of pretty things, and of sweet things. But he was a bit of an old soul in that way. Females were precious, something to be treasured and all but worshiped. That didn't mean that you couldn't have a bit of fun with them, so long as it was mutual an no one got hurt in the process. He gave a rumbling chuckle, just imagining the pretty green flitting from weyr to weyr like a hummingbird would to a cluster of flowers. Obviously any male she took a liking to was fair game in her mind, regardless of station or status.

    - Well, I cant imagine how that might happen.... - Ducking her flicking tail, he teased her playfully, obviously knowing damn well how the pair seemed to be like sticky honey to both dragon and rider. And considering how easily those riders could be manipulated by a pretty female... No surprise at all! - I'v seen more than a few gravitate towards both you and your rider over the months... - Indeed, he'd been watching the lithe green from afar for... well, most of her stay. He'd taken note of her only a sevenday after their arrival, after the chaos of the hatching and the new weyrlings had settled down. Often, he found himself watching her from his sun splashed ledge, amused at the way she flirted and teased the bronzes, never quite letting them 'catch' her, but leaving them feeling accomplished none the less. Now he knew why those big brutes came away from the encounter with a dazed and pleased look in their eye.

Bright blue eyes held the laughter that boomed from his deep chest, knowing exactly what the little minx was up to and not minding one little bit. "Your a frell of a lot more than I'm used to, thats for sure... But I'd say your just about what I can handle... Unless I'm failing to handle you and completely missing it." He chuckled, doubting there would be much more of her that he'd ever need to handle. He had little inclination as to his big blue's thoughts at the moment though, as Ryath hadn't even shared his 'interest from afar' in the green. With his luck, he'd have a whole lot more of her to 'handle' sooner or later.

And did Ryath fancy himself to be surprising? Eferiath, to be fair, didn't much care who as long as she was treated best always. She and Amaryn that was.  She preened herself delicately, flicking her wings out just so, and being sure to display herself as best she could. Easily done! Amaryn told her she was lovely all the time and Eferiath did not have a hard time believing it!

I quite like Fortian dragons. Today. Who knew what her fickle self would think of them on other days? Eferiath did not spend much time dwelling on the past or focusing on the future. It was all about the now! And about enjoying the now! And everything in the now being about her! Which was true, right now.

Amaryn's lips curved into an appreciative smile and she hugged her winter jacket tighter around her slim frame as she surveyed the bluerider. "Oh you're doing alright. For now." Her dragon wasn't the only one who had tastes that tended toward the fickle.  "But look at me, distracting you from your post." She pursed her lips and then smiled wickedly. "Fort could fall down around our ears and I'm not sure you nor Ryath would take much note." Lucky then that he had Carmine who wasn't nearly so distracted by the green pair, wasn't it?

"When you get off..." She paused artfully and her expression turned innocent. That kind of innocent that wasn't actually innocent in the slightest. "... think of me." Yes the double meaning was entirely intentional. Amaryn blew him a kiss and then nudged Eferiath who gave the impression that she was pouting over her fun being cut short.

    If only dragons could pout.

Ryath was very much full of surprises. Considering he was half as old as he looked, and still behaved like a goofy youngling when the urge struck him. Being the second largest blue in the weyr, and far more solidly built that any others of his color, most were rather shocked to see him in the air. Especially after having seen him trundle about on land like an over grown sea lion. His bold and opinionated manner was unusual for his color, and wholly blamed on his rider, in his mind.

    - Well than, I shall do my part to make sure you enjoy them each and every day that I can. We wouldn't want an unhappy Eferiath on our hands now would we - He doubted that would be anything but a catastrophe. Considering the short time he'd spent with her, and the fact that he already knew that as surely as he knew his own name... Either he was extremely skilled at reading this lovely example of a green, or she was just that transparent.

A'dair chuckled, crossing his large arms against his chest as a rather biting wind managed to slip around Ryath and cut under his jackets. "Its good to know I'm at least able to  keep from disappointing you for the moment. We'll have to see about the future when it comes, though." He gave a shrug and glanced up at his oversized blue, smirking fondly to see the big brute so happy and playful for the first time in a very long time. "I'm sure Carmine would let us know. She's as territorial as they come and still seems to think that the dragons are hers to boss around" She hadn't yet met one of the other queens who's weyr it really was. Glancing down at the baby queenling, he chuckled to discover that she was fast asleep on his shoulders, head hanging at a very unladylike angle. "Or maybe not"

A cheeky grin spread across his face as she paused, continuing only after giving his mind plenty of time to turn her words dark and dirty. She was about as far from innocent as he was from being a goldrider! "Oh I shall, lady. I shall" He watched as she nudged her dragon, chuckling as the pretty little thing all but stuck her lower jaw out in a out. "Have a good evening, Ladies. Try and keep warm for me, wont you" He grinned a bit devilishly at them, knowing they would likely be heading down to find the most enjoyable way to 'keep warm' that they could find this late in the evening. Or was it early in the morning already?

No, you would not! Despite her colour, the tone would have been as grandly imperious as any Gold but Eferiath was far too appreciative of the attention and she followed her words up with a gentle mental prod that was rather like an inane giggle. If she were human, and had she hair, she would have flipped it at him, but Eferiath had to make do with a more draconic approach and another well-timed flick of her tail.

Now what has got into you? Amaryn asked, pressing her face briefly against Eferiath's hide. She knew her beloved was generally dismayed with what she called 'broken' things, be they dragon on rider or anything in between.

It is better than being bored. The excuse was slightly petulant and Amaryn turned her attention back to A'dair as she  easily mounted her green, eyes on him the whole while.

"Don't pine for us too much, A'dair." She blew him a kiss and Eferiath, taking that as an excuse to show off, launched backward, into what amounted to the bastard child of a reverse tailslide and a corkscrewing Kulbit, though with a specifically Eferiath twist.

    Of course.
