...PERSONALITY...Eccentric is a good word to describe Leilani...quietly eccentric is even better. The first thing someone might notice about her is that she is shy. Terribly, terribly, painfully shy. One would have a better time trying to break through a brick wall than getting anything out of this girl if she doesn't want to talk to you. In fact, she goes so far as to actually hiding from people. It's unknown to anyone why she's afraid of people, because for all intents and purposes, she's a very, very pretty girl. Long, wavy dark hair, lightly tanned skin, dainty, petite form. She's just
afraid. There's no real rhyme or reason to it other than the fear itself. It takes all her courage and several tries to bring herself to talk to anyone, so good luck if you want to be her friend.
Not that it's impossible to befriend her. It isn't. It's just exceedingly difficult. She doesn't trust others easily, being almost always suspicious of the intentions of others. If someone does manage to befriend her, and take the work required to accomplish that, she's a fiercely loyal friend, even if she's a bit naive. A very sentimental girl, she'll stick close to the few friends that she manages to make, if any. She won't actually go out and actively try and make bonds, but it that happens, she won't shrug them off, either. Once she does get to trusting someone, she'll trust them with everything she has. So that person had better not betray her. If they do, she likely won't know for a while, so fiercely and steadfastly loyal is she...but if she does find out, she'll be genuinely hurt and once her trust is lost, it's ten times the chore to get it back.
Boys. Yes boys. Here's where most of her eccentricity comes into play. Lani likes boys. She likes boys a lot. It seems that no boys like her. That's hardly their fault of course. While she's an extraordinarily pretty girl, she lacks even an ounce of outgoingness...so, she'll probably never have a boyfriend. That doesn't stop her from wanting and wishing...and stalking? Yes. If Lani sees a boy she thinks is cute (and she thinks most boys are cute), she'll literally follow them...for hours. She appreciates good looking boys and men like any woman, and though she lacks the confidence to actually talk to them...ever...without freaking out...she'll stare at them from afar. And if any of her stalkees glanced her way, or was aware of her presence? She'd probably squeal and flee...or play dead...like a possum...or a deer caught in the headlights. Because clearly if she doesn't move she becomes invisible.
All in all, Lani is a very, very kind girl. Pretty and smart, she would be a good friend to anyone. She would never judge, and she would never blame anything on anyone. She's just painfully shy and afraid of rejection...so people probably wouldn't ever really bother to get to know her unless they were really serious about it.
Leilani was born and raised in love with the sea. Her father was a fisherman and her mother was a hold girl. When her mother was younger, her father swept her off her feet, and stole her away from the hold she lived in to live a life with him out at sea, or well, he was out at see, she lived mostly in the seaside cothold waiting for him to come back. She got pregnant unexpectedly, and even more unexpectedly, got sick.
The birth took a lot out of her, but she managed to carry the child to term. Barely. They had to forcibly remove the child from her stomach right before she died. As such, the little girl, named Leilani, carried a lot of guilt with her over the death of her mother. Her father never quite thought of her the same way. He tried with her, he really did, and he raised her well...but he could never quite get over the loss of his wife; the girl's mother.
Lani was raised with a love and an appreciation of the sea. As soon as she was old enough, she went out on her father's ship, helping him in any way she could. Though she was always a small girl, she pulled her weight the best she could, often not physically being able to carry as much as the boys, but she was precocious, and tried all the same. No one quite treated her how she longed to be treated though, like an equal. When she was young, they treated her like a cute little girl...when she was older, they treated her like a silly little girl. She started to grow withdrawn, and quiet. She didn't offer to help as much as she used to, and eventually, she didn't want to help at all anymore.
Her father got frustrated with her, and he took her back home, fully intent on just leaving her. Fortunately for the both of them, a green dragon on rounds found her while out on search. She very nearly died of fright right then...she had no idea why a dragon would want her, and even being a grown girl of eighteen turns...tried to hide. Her father, seeing this as an opportunity for his daughter to not only be useful, but somewhere else away from him. He convinced her to go, and in month seven of the current year, she was searched to Fort, a weyr very badly in need of fresh blood.
But did they need fraidy blood?

...PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION...Canriath is a pretty little green. Where other dragons waddle awkwardly on land, she picks her way delicately, where others simply fly, she
dances through the air. As a young dragonet, she is the soft, beautiful, elegant green of ferns, with very little discoloration or variation in her hide, though she is slightly darker on the belly. She is curved, petite, and delicately feminine. Canriath won’t ever be a large dragon, topping out at around 21 feet, but for all that she is whippy and agile.
...PERSONALITY...Canriath is in possession of a sweet nature. She is full of good intentions though does not always have the wherewithal to follow through, particularly if deep thought is required. The lovely little Canriath leaves the hard thinking up to her rider. She is fickle of mind and of affection to all but her rider -of course she’s entirely loyal to Leilani always, forever and without question- but her loyalties to this male or that male will never remain constant.
She is exuberant and delightful and yet surprisingly demanding for a green. She wants to swim
now! She wants to be oiled
now! She wants to be fed
now! The concept of time or having to
wait for a thing is just not an easy thing for this darling little green to grasp. She is very aware of herself and always conscious of how she is situated, as such if you happen to get knocked over by her tail, don’t be fooled; it isn’t an accident at all, though she will ingeniously pretend that it was! It was! In reality though, perhaps you weren’t fast enough catering to her plaintive demands, or perhaps she’s feeling a touch neglected.
Canriath is rather playful but does not particularly enjoy rough-and-tumble. She’s very observant and likes to watch things; people things and dragon things, though the former is usually baffling to her. She’s rather a sensitive one and is likely to make a good searchdragon someday. While she may not last a whole Threadfall, she’ll certainly do three times as much work in half the time. She’s very agile and eager to do well.
